Week from Monday 25th December 2023 -Merry "Might As Well Stay In Bed And Watch A Couple Of 'Star Wars'es" Day! I got a nice new Braun Cordless Shaver for Chrimbo, but I haven't been able to try it out yet. The charger lead comes with a European-type two-pin plug, but that's the one thing that I don't have an adaptor for...


Week from Monday 1st January 2024 - I have to confess, I haven't yet approached the DeLuxe 50th Anniversary Edition of FRANK ZAPPA's "Over Nite Sensation" with very much enthusiasm. Although the original album is considered a firm favourite amongst 'fans', it is certainly not one of mine, at least not lyrically. It's an album where FZ's previous wit and cynicism gave way to crowd-pleasing vulgarity. There's also a lot there that 'I DON'T NEED AGAIN' (The original album in its entirety? And again in a surround format that I can't use? More ruddy versions of the dreaded "Dinah-Moe Humm" and "Camarillo Brillo"? Live material that I already have some of?) ...So I opted on this occasion to avail myself of the digital download, rather than splash out for the physical box, with the aim of doing a couple of my famous "LISTENING SELECTIONS" discs. But I can't be bothered with it at the moment, so there it will sit in my downloads 'bucket' awaiting my attention...


Week from Monday 8th January 2024 - Instead, I'm devoting my attention to compiling one of my famous 'MIXTAPE' CDs, to feature some of the accumulated 'odds'n'sods' of P.A.K.T. (Percy Jones, Alex Skolnick, Kenny Grohowski and Tim Motzer). There's a 'NEW' album due, to appease the "IT DOESN'T 'COUNT' UNLESS YOU BUY IT AS A PHYSICAL ENTITY" crowd. But much of it has already appeared as downloads - As some of the 'complete' concert performances don't quite fit onto a CD, I already have 'LEFTOVERS', enough for another couple of CDs...

Currently, my other 'FAVOURITE WASTE OF TIME' is watching old and new episodes of "THE REPAIR SHOP". I admire (and am fascinated by) the technical craft skills involved, but I do find some of the sentimental emoting a bit forced and scripted... "I never knew grandad myself, but this will give me something to remember him by (sob! sob!)..."

New Releases 2024 FERGUS McCREADIE TRIO - "Stream" Nothing brings me greater musical pleasure these days than the sound of a jazz piano trio. It's the perfect format (unless of course the pianist decides to sabotage the recording by 'vocalising' all the way through it. But that's another story...) Those young whippersnappers McCreadie, Bowden and Henderson win it again for me this year with the new one "Stream", not to mention their frequent appearances on the radio (bla bla bla dum-de-dum BBC Radio Three "New Generation Artists" bla bla bla and so forth). Fergus's playing is, as always, absolutely astonishing and there are plenty of banging self-penned tunes, all steeped in traditional 'folk music' flavours, coupled with some great improvisational interplay. Week from Monday 18th November 2024 - I've had the opportunity this week to finish off a couple of MUSIC PROJECTS:- I've 'processed' the latest download from the STICK MEN (BOOTLEGS) concern, plus I've been doing the ol''DeeJay' thang and compiling another one of my famous "AMBIENT MEGAMIX" seedies, this one featuring recent space music from THE UTOPIA STRONG, MARKUS REUTER and CLOUDLAND BLUE QUARTET. Then when it was all done, I accidentally lost the finished disc down the back of a cupboard when I was moving some gear about! I eventually figured out a way to recover the disc by shifting the furniture a tad and squeezing my conveniently-emaciated arm through the gap! (In addition to the above, there's also an official STICK MEN eepee and a live CAN release due from Bandcamp on Friday.) King Crimson 2015

On the 5th September 2015 , ten whole years ago now, we had the opportunity to see the newly invigorated KING CRIMSON in its 'seven-headed-beast' configuration for the first time. I thought it might be interesting (for me anyway!) to revisit the bloggydiarythingy for that time, in all its unabridged entirety - the ANTICIPATION, the EXPERIENCE, the AFTERMATH. I'm afraid that, looking back, it does read as a bit 'gushingly fanboy' at times, but these were MY opinions, MY thoughts and MY feelings as they wuz writ. I might not necessarily agree with MYSELF now, especially on the subject of 'all that drumming', but I've recently heard the whole show again via the DGMlive.com concern and it's a fair appraisal when all's said and done... (Listening back to it now, I still stand by my opinion that I preferred "Larks' Tongues II" and "Level Five" when played live by the STICK MEN, rather than by the full-blown KCrim.) Week fr...
