Why?

I suddenly found that I was unable to upload posts to the "BloggyDiaryWotsit" that had been hosted by Coffeecup.com for the last few years. It was only a matter of time. Their software all works on M****soft Windoze and I don't anymore. I may also be a victim of Firefox's increasingly strict policy about using "http" addresses rather than the more secure and now widely accepted "https"...

Week from Monday 10th April 2023 - I'm not quite sure when I'll be able to make these latest DIARYWOTSIT updates 'LIVE', as the CoffeeCup homepage is currently showing me 'suggestions' for their readymade templates and Windoze apps instead of letting me upload my own files. But "IF YOU CAN SEE THIS..." etc. etc. etc. Of course, I realised that the time might come when I'd struggle using CoffeeCup's Windoze-only stuff on my LINUX set-up, and that FIREFOX's increasingly strict policy for not letting 'unsecure' 'HTTP' pages through, might become an obstacle. IS THIS THE END? I'll continue to write my shit offline, but I might have to find somewhere new to host it, so that OTHER people can read it (I think I know who you both are!). I thought I might avail myself of that BLOGGING feature that comes with Vivaldi, but that doesn't seem possible at the moment, as I got stuck in a "Verify your phone number" loop! Then again, I suppose I could always revive my long-abandoned BLOGGER/blogspot site...

I'll continue to keep the original BloggyDiaryThingy going offline. I say 'original', but in fact I've got an entirely new version on the go, using an HTML/CSS template that I was going to use for a client, but they don't need a new website after all! Meanwhile, THIS HERE will become the home for new posts and I will also embed a few links to my other online presences along the way.


During the meanwhilst... I watched the "highlights" of the PARIS-ROUBAIX over the weekend. It was carried by that cheapo little QUEST channel, so I just KNEW that the telly's electronic guide would be unreliable and I'd found myself 'setting the video' on a wing and a prayer! The famous cobbles made for plenty of ROUGH'n'TUMBLE action in both the women's and men's races, but the actual results were DISAPPPOINTING. But I've got used to that...

New Releases 2024 FERGUS McCREADIE TRIO - "Stream" Nothing brings me greater musical pleasure these days than the sound of a jazz piano trio. It's the perfect format (unless of course the pianist decides to sabotage the recording by 'vocalising' all the way through it. But that's another story...) Those young whippersnappers McCreadie, Bowden and Henderson win it again for me this year with the new one "Stream", not to mention their frequent appearances on the radio (bla bla bla dum-de-dum BBC Radio Three "New Generation Artists" bla bla bla and so forth). C-C-C-Cold!

Week from Monday 18th November 2024 - I've had the opportunity this week to finish off a couple of MUSIC PROJECTS:- I've 'processed' the latest download from the STICK MEN (BOOTLEGS) concern, plus I've been doing the ol''DeeJay' thang and compiling another one of my famous "AMBIENT MEGAMIX" seedies, this one featuring recent space music from THE UTOPIA STRONG, MARKUS REUTER and CLOUDLAND BLUE QUARTET. Then when it was all done, I accidentally lost the finished disc down the back of a cupboard when I was moving some gear about! I eventually figured out a way to recover the disc by shifting the furniture a tad and squeezing my conveniently-emaciated arm through the gap! (In addition to the above, there's also an official STICK MEN eepee and a live CAN release due from Bandcamp on Friday.) King Crimson 2015

On the 5th September 2015 , ten whole years ago now, we had the opportunity to see the newly invigorated KING CRIMSON in its 'seven-headed-beast' configuration for the first time. I thought it might be interesting (for me anyway!) to revisit the bloggydiarythingy for that time, in all its unabridged entirety - the ANTICIPATION, the EXPERIENCE, the AFTERMATH. I'm afraid that, looking back, it does read as a bit 'gushingly fanboy' at times, but these were MY opinions, MY thoughts and MY feelings as they wuz writ. I might not necessarily agree with MYSELF now, especially on the subject of 'all that drumming', but I've recently heard the whole show again via the DGMlive.com concern and it's a fair appraisal when all's said and done... (Listening back to it now, I still stand by my opinion that I preferred "Larks' Tongues II" and "Level Five" when played live by the STICK MEN, rather than by the full-blown KCrim.) Week fr...
