Expanded Edition

Week from Monday 1st June 2026 - I did one of those L-O-N-G phone calls to the ELF CENTRE to organise my next rounds of pre-HORSEPICKLE blood tests. You have to wait until after eleven-thirty on a Wednesday before you can book an appointment these days, and then you have to listen to twenty minutes of terrible electronic Mozart before you can get through to a person to make your arrangements. But at least I shan't have to TAKE A GAMBLE the next time, going all the way to the general obstacle, only to find that I can't be seen to on a 'WALK-IN' basis...

The LiDL-TREK ladies have been having a better time of it in their version of the GIRO D'ITALIA... ELISA BALSAMO sprinted three-for-three in the opening stages, thus wearing the PINK JERSEY. But she lost it by quite a few minutes in the Stage Four TIME TRIAL. However, she's still leading the RED JERSEY points competition by a comfortable margin and keeps winning everything that isn't too hilly, thanks to the consistency of her lead-out person LUCINDA BRAND. ISABELLA HOLMGREN is leading the WHITE JERSEY rankings and is in the top ten for GC. So another good week's bikefun before the CriTéRiuM du DAuphiNé starts...

In the end, the GIRO D'ITALIA was a very successful week for the LiDL-TREK girls: Red Jersey, White Jersey, a podium on the final stage (NIAMH FISHER-BLACK) and BEST TEAM overall! Meanwhile, it's still too early to see how the chaps will fare in the CriTéRiuM du DAuphiNé, which has now changed its name to the TOUR AUVERGNE-RHôNE-ALPES. But everyone is STILL calling it the CriTéRiuM du DAuphiNé anyway, because nobody really knows what the TOUR AUVERGNE-RHôNE-ALPES is yet! (I'll go on calling it the CriTéRiuM du DAuphiNé, if only for the fact that I'd gone to the trouble of faking this inline CriTéRiuM du DAuphiNé logo using HTML/CSS markup, several seasons ago!)

Week from Monday 8th June 2026 - MONDAY DOING MONDAY STUFF... Along with all my various routine RADIO PODCASTS, another regular habit that I'd gotten into was doing "JOHNNY'S ROCK QUIZ" on the DJTees.com website... except that for the last couple of weeks, I can't access the DJTees.com website at all! At first, I thought this was a new FIREFOX or THUNDERBIRD thing (that the hyperlinks on the email didn't work, or that the site had been flagged as insecure for some reason). But no. I can't open any pages using CHROMIUM either. The pages just don't load. The browser tries to work, but then eventually just 'TIMES-OUT'. (STOP PRESS: The pages DO load via the STARTPAGE browser on my phone. Who'da thunkit!?! So next time I do the quiz, that's where I'll need to go...)

There wasn't much to write home about for the first couple of days of the CriTéRiuM du DAuphiNé, but the TEAM TIME TRIAL on day three has shook things up a bit. MATTIAS SKJELMOSE and JUAN AYUSO are both riding high in the GC top ten, while the latter is also a contender for the WHITE JERSEY, as is QUINN SIMMONS, who got in the breakaway on stage four and sprinted to victory. Hard to believe that HE's still a 'Young Rider', resembling Yosemite Sam as he does! In the end, the chaps had one stage win (Quinn), plus Juan 'podiumed' in both the YELLOW and WHITE JERSEY contests.

I took a return trip to Gozzy to collect my new reading glasses. At last, a pair that doesn't slip off my nose and ears, should I so much as nod my head or bend over! I enjoyed a couple of hours 'OUT', but a considerable portion of that time was spent either waiting FOR buses, or sitting ON the bus, stuck in traffic...

That ST5V5N W9LS15N chap has a long history of putting out an album and then, frustratingly, following it up with a forbiddingly expensive, multi-disc DELUXE-EXPANDED-LIMITED-EDITION that is usually packed with outtakes and alternate versions. A particularly extreme example of this practice was with the album "THE FUTURE BITES", which came in more different versions than anyone could possibly follow. In that case, the general consensus was that many of the 'bonus' tracks were better than the ones that made it onto the album proper! Now it appears that there was a biggerbox version of TH5 OV5RV95W as well, which had already sold out (at a huge price) before anybody who wasn't paying REALLY close attention even knew it was there! I'm pretty slow on the uptake when it comes to 'getting into' Mr Wilson's material, so these things often pass me by. Luckily, there's 'That YouTube They Have Now', so I've eventually got to hear it anyway...
