C-C-C-Cold!
On Thursday, the weather was atrocious, but I had to venture out to the HORSEPICKLE for a walk-in BLOOD TEST, ahead of next Tuesday's telephone consultation. This time around, I didn't want to leave it till the last minute on a Friday, like everyone else seems to! Last time they sent us upstairs to a different department altogether because they were overwhelmed. On this occasion though, I was dealt with in no time. In fact, I probably spent a lot more time waiting about (in the c-c-c-cold) for buses, than I did at the clinic!
BLOOSKY is certainly a 'NICER' place, but it's not 'BETTER' than Twitter yet. (It probably IS better than 'X' though, I grant you!) I've been getting notifications and new followers on a daily basis, but I'm not QUITE ready to call it 'home' INSTEAD of Twitter. From a technical standpoint, the app itself is not really 'there' yet. I find pages are a bit slow and clunky to load and scroll. Of particular relevance to my own useage is the way that they handle the reproduction of IMAGES, which don't appear nearly as sharp and scaleable as on Twitter. In short, it's not yet as 'COMFORTABLE' as my own Twitter, but it's getting there. I appreciate that a lot of folks have finally found the muskytrump version of 'X' to be untenable, but as long as my own TWITTER experience is one over which I maintain control, then I see no reason to REPLACE it. Having said that, I avoid straying too deep into the COMMENTS sections where all the deeply troubled and ill-mannered people live...
#OnThisDay in 1976, I saw the STEVE HILLAGE band play the Portsmouth Mecca/Locarno, a venue which Hillage himself described as a "very surreal setting" - its tinselly curtains and mirrorballs were more suited to naff college discos and the occasional bingo night! At the time, Hillage would have been promoting the "L" album, which they played in its entirety(?), quite loudly as I recall. We enjoyed the proceedings from a vantage point up in one of the side balconies. I still have a rather good b***leg recording of this gig, subsequently gleaned from The Famous Gold Lamé Tapes. The support band was NOVA, a rather splendid Italian jazz/prog outfit, one of those bands who, at the time, appealed mainly to OTHER musos (their album was produced by Robin Lumley and they featured various BRAND X alumni and NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN amongst their augmented personnel). Despite a few prestigious support gigs, the 'crossover' never QUITE happened for them.
Week from Monday 25th November 2024 - It's probably just as well that my Tuesday appointment with DrDR was over the phone, because I've got a bit of a COLD (snotty nose, throaty cough and FUNNY EARS [©Shelfy]). I ain't going nowhere! Hopefully, it's just one of those FORTY-EIGHT HOUR THINGS, but if it persists until the weekend, then I'll have to bust out a MASK when I do go to the HORSEPICKLE. Of course, it goes without saying, it should ALWAYS be necessary to mask up when visiting a medical facility, but since not even the staff are bothering these days, I figure that any damage has already been done long ago.
