Revision

Week from Monday 14th October 2024 - On Tuesday, I had my phone-in CLINICAL REVIEW with the 'Boss'. We agreed that I've got the BALANCE right with the meds I've been taking (Blood pressure, TICK! Pain management, TICK! Bowel movements, TICK!). The latest blood tests were encouraging, showing no kidney problems and no sign of THE DISEASE coming back. Which just leaves the question of the WALKIES-preventative numb feet and breathlessness...

Speaking of which... on Friday, I wore myself out by going for a couple of hours of bimbling and mooching around Southampton. I windowshopped the heck out of HMV and bought the new album by THE SMILE, their second one this year. It's a challenging listen, as is most RADIOHEADy stuff at first, but it's definitely one that deserves 'living with' for the next few days until it 'sinks in'. I also browsed a couple of charity shops, as yer do. I found another album for my NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN collection. Yes, Mr VOYSIN M'HEAD, I know "they all sound the same". So what's your point?

I've treated myself to a brand-new ANDROID TABLET... I'll be doing all the usual PERSONALISATION that comes with acquiring a new pooter ("How To Get Comfy") and I'm consulting my old notes to remind myself 'HOW I DID IT LAST TIME'. Plus, as eXon MusX has once again been moving the Twitter goalposts for anyone who lets him, this seems like just the right time to (re)post these XANDY XINTS, with a few new additions I've picked up along the way...

Week from Monday 21st October 2024 - My new device arrived, a LENOVO TAB P11. Second Generation, don'tcha know... I'm still in the process of customising it for my own comfort - f'rinstance the default choice of wallpaper was garish, to say the least, and I'm currently exploring the pros and cons of "WINDOWS MODE" rather than the more familiar ANDROID desktop - but I'm happy to report that the TWITTER de-X-ifying processes listed previously still work on the new beast! I put off sharing those XANDY XINTS on m'bloggydiarydoodah and soshul meejer until I'd made doubly sure. I'd have looked a bit of a daft nana if I'd shared the blog last week and then, when the new device arrived, found out that the 'Xints' didn't work on a 'modern' machine. I was also able to revisit the blogposting and make a couple of tweaks when I found that my choice of fonts weren't particularly legible on a mobile screen.

So I fully expect the next few days and nights will find me in a state of what I like to call "BRAINBUSY", when I am at my most PROBLEM-SOLVING. That often means waking up in the middle of the night with "IDEAS" that must be acted on immediately. But the weather has been particularly grotty lately, so I'm not keen to go anywhere during the day either!

Anyway, with no visits to the Ho's Spittle scheduled for this week, I've had plenty of time to 'PLAY WITH MY NEW TOY', customising MY BIGGER ANDROID to make it comfortable. I've replaced the hideous wallpaper with a tasteful MARK ROTHKO painting. I've uninstalled or disabled a great deal of what might be considered BLOATWARE, mostly G**gle's or Lenovo's own stuff that I'll never have any use for. I've selected the most USEFUL apps and rearranged them on the homescreen. I've dumped G**gle CHROME and replaced it with the lightweight STARTPAGE browser to match my phone. I've installed another old favourite, the VLC media player, and loaded it up with my "WORLDPOD" playlist. I also had fun with a couple of games (alternative versions of MAHJONGG), but uninstalled them again after a few hours 'cos I found the ads too annoying. Needless to say, I've now got TWITTER back the way I like it and I'm enjoying it on a bigger screen. I've been considering the idea of synching the MESSAGES app with the one on my phone, but as I'm not a massive user of TEXTING, it's not really a priority...

Here come the WEEKEND, back to the telly whodunnits - "DEN SOM DRÆBER" is back!
