Week from Monday 19th August 2024 - I had my telephone chat with a GP... She agrees that my BLOOD PRESSURE has gone from one extreme to the other and has suggested that I (further) halve the dose of CANDESARTAN that I'm taking. She's also prescribed a CODEINE-based painkiller for the HURTY FEET. I am due another BLOOD TEST, as one of my 'ORIGINAL SYMPTOMS' that may have returned (on top of the BREATHLESSNESS and low BP) is a goodly dose of ANAEMIA... ho hum! I might have to cut back on my morning BANANAS, as experience tells me that my levels of POTASSIUM might also be elevated. At least having gone through all this once before, I know what to look out for this time around!

It's time for that Spanish VUELTA-type bike-race... usually my favourite of the big three GRAND TOURS, in terms of the actual competition. But often painful to listen to, on account of the terrible commentators one has to endure if one has to watch the Eurosport 'highlights' shows that get buried away on some blokey freeview channel. The race is already being well and truly WOUT VAN AERT-ed, but our lad MATHIAS VACEK is doing nicely in the Green Jersey POINTS competition at the moment. (Mind you, I rather wish I could be watching the ongoing LiDL Deutschland Tour, which by all accounts is being dominated by the mighty pair of MADS PEDERSEN and JONATHAN MILAN!) This morning, being Bank Holiday Monday Itself, it is of course raining and blowing. Meanwhile, in much MUCH hotter climes, LA VUELTA A ESPAÑA is finally underway... ¡arriba arriba! There's no LIVE coverage on our telly, just an hour of "HIGHLIGHTS" every evening at seven. That's the general idea anyway. But more often than not, if there's a more 'IMPORTANT' sporting fixture going on (usually one involving vastly overpaid young men fruitlessly kicking balls around), they broadcast the cycling late at night, or even in the early hours. I've now got into the habit of recording it and watching it over breakfast the next day, meaning I'm nearly a day behind 'REAL TIME' (so don't tell me the results!!!)... This week marks ONE WHOLE YEAR since I closed down the last of our MYSPACE pages and said goodbye to the silly misguided twerps forever. It seems much longer somehow. I wonder how they're doing without us?

Week from Monday 26th August 2024 - It's been a bit HOT & PRICKLY this week and I haven't been up to much, but I did venture out on a WALKIES a couple of times... well, hobbled across the road to the bus stop, anyway! First of all, on Tuesday, I had to go up to the horse pickle for a walk-in BLOOD TEST, ahead of next week's early morning face-to-face review. Then on Friday, I popped into town to go to the cashpoint, and also to avail myself of RECORD COLLECTOR magazine's "Special Edition" dedicated to that popular beat combo KING CRIMSON. Needless to say, both outings left me with sore feet and breathlessness, but it has to be done!

New Releases 2024 FERGUS McCREADIE TRIO - "Stream" Nothing brings me greater musical pleasure these days than the sound of a jazz piano trio. It's the perfect format (unless of course the pianist decides to sabotage the recording by 'vocalising' all the way through it. But that's another story...) Those young whippersnappers McCreadie, Bowden and Henderson win it again for me this year with the new one "Stream", not to mention their frequent appearances on the radio (bla bla bla dum-de-dum BBC Radio Three "New Generation Artists" bla bla bla and so forth). Fergus's playing is, as always, absolutely astonishing and there are plenty of banging self-penned tunes, all steeped in traditional 'folk music' flavours, coupled with some great improvisational interplay. C-C-C-Cold!

Week from Monday 18th November 2024 - I've had the opportunity this week to finish off a couple of MUSIC PROJECTS:- I've 'processed' the latest download from the STICK MEN (BOOTLEGS) concern, plus I've been doing the ol''DeeJay' thang and compiling another one of my famous "AMBIENT MEGAMIX" seedies, this one featuring recent space music from THE UTOPIA STRONG, MARKUS REUTER and CLOUDLAND BLUE QUARTET. Then when it was all done, I accidentally lost the finished disc down the back of a cupboard when I was moving some gear about! I eventually figured out a way to recover the disc by shifting the furniture a tad and squeezing my conveniently-emaciated arm through the gap! (In addition to the above, there's also an official STICK MEN eepee and a live CAN release due from Bandcamp on Friday.) King Crimson 2015

On the 5th September 2015 , ten whole years ago now, we had the opportunity to see the newly invigorated KING CRIMSON in its 'seven-headed-beast' configuration for the first time. I thought it might be interesting (for me anyway!) to revisit the bloggydiarythingy for that time, in all its unabridged entirety - the ANTICIPATION, the EXPERIENCE, the AFTERMATH. I'm afraid that, looking back, it does read as a bit 'gushingly fanboy' at times, but these were MY opinions, MY thoughts and MY feelings as they wuz writ. I might not necessarily agree with MYSELF now, especially on the subject of 'all that drumming', but I've recently heard the whole show again via the DGMlive.com concern and it's a fair appraisal when all's said and done... (Listening back to it now, I still stand by my opinion that I preferred "Larks' Tongues II" and "Level Five" when played live by the STICK MEN, rather than by the full-blown KCrim.) Week fr...
