A Condition

Week from Monday 29th January 2024 whatever! - I've eventually got through to a GENERAL PRACTITIONER who is willing to talk to me about my CONDITION(s)! A longish phone call ensued, but it's telling that neither of us have yet mentioned 'THE Cov-WORD' out loud. Of main concern to the Doctor is my RAPID(ish) WEIGHT LOSS. I'm more interested in the fact that, having enjoyed a lifetime of WALKING everywhere for business and pleasure, as of last summer I can no longer comfortably call myself a PEDESTRIAN. I'm venturing out to the Elf Centre on Friday for 'SOME TESTS'... anaemic (i.e. VERY low blood count), erratic BP (well, I've ALWAYS had that!), weight loss, etc etc...

Anway, that escalated rather quickly... No sooner had I got home from seeing the doctor, I get another call, urgently summoning me to QA hospital for YET MORE 'tests', necessitating an OVERNIGHT STAY... Long story very short, a month later, I was still there! Turns out I have a condition called MYELOMA. It's a kind of cancer, but thankfully not the lumpy kind. It's not curable (yet?) but it is manageable, meaning a major lifestyle change on my part. This is my PROJECT now.

But I must say, I rather enjoyed my long stay at the HOTEL DEL QA, with it's scenic views of Cosham's bustling crow and seagull district. Apart from some of the stabby stuff, obviously that's NOT quite so enjoyable. And some of the tedious waiting around. There's a lot of that. It's a bit like a visit to a HEALTH FARM, only with an emphasis on rational scientific investigation rather than mumbo-jumbo new-age bollocks!

I'm back home now, a bit achy, but glad to be in my own comfy bed. My legs are still a bit wobbly (skinny thighs and swollen feet), mainly, I suspect, through lack of use. I'm twitchy from what I call "THE WAKIN' SHAKES" (makes it feel weird typing again!) and I have a ---L---O---N---G--- list of THINGS TO DO (literally! stuff pinned to the wall and everything!). I've also grown a Thom Yorke beard and I'm long overdue for a haircut.

All of which should explain why I've taken a long break from this here bloggydiarywossame and SOSHUL MEEJER in general, having been a month 'AFK', as they say. And it puts the kybosh on all that "Week from Monday..." nonsense we have here, so I might have to rethink that as well. While I was 'inside', I managed to use up all my phone data before I could waste any time on Xitter, but I haven't really missed it, to be honest. I've also enjoyed the novelty of NOT WATCHING TELEVISION. Turns out I don't miss that either. A month without MUSIC (apart from the earworms in my own head) is too much though.

So that was all of FEBRUARY taken care of...
