Week from Monday 30th October 2023 - An Upside To The Lockdown... I've had the time and opportunity to catch up with some BIG, some might say 'classic' MOVIES during the weekdays:- "The Omen", "The Shining", "Blade Runner 2049" (not as stunning as the original), "Midsommar" (disturbing, but short on suspense: I didn't really care for it)... a couple of 'em I'd intended to save for watching on HALLOWEEN. But I've already been ticking them off the list anyway. Because I can.
BANDCAMP FRIDAY is still a thing, I see... I'm unable to purchase anything at the moment, but I've come to treat the BFs as a sort of 'listening party'. Not surprisingly, MARKUS REUTER has yet another couple of collaborative projects on the books:- "Mumblecore Failure" with Jean-Philippe Rossi and "Sea Of Hopeless Angels" with Stefano Castagna, along with some further chapters from his own "Stream For Consciousness" droneworks.
Week from Monday 6th November 2023 - You'll forgive if some of my BloggyDiaryThingy postings are a little sparse at the moment. I don't have all that much to talk about. All the days have sort of merged into one, and I fill them all in exactly the same way. There's also a lot of PROCRASTINATION involved. Writing it all down could only get REPETITITITITITIVE!
Personal "Grooming" has become less of a priority too. Not that it ever was one. My hair has grown outwards in a most bizarre manner and I've got a straggly grey beard. I caught a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror and I saw THOM YORKE off of Radiohead.
So let's have a look at what I was up to #TenYearsAgo instead... Seems there was a brand new version of my eponymous LINUX operating system...
(My current installation is LINUX MINT MATE 20.3, known as "UNA". There's been a couple more upgrades available since I installed it, but I've reached the point where my ten-year-old vintage laptop can't cope very well with the really MODERN resource-hogging stuff.)

FAREWELL NADIA, HELLO OLIVIA... Today (Friday) I've been updating my laptop's LINUX MINT installation to version 15, known to all as 'Olivia'. I haven't noticed any major differences yet, if the truth be told, but we'll see once I've got everything back the way I like it...
The main reason for doing this now was because they've discontinued one of the Ubuntu repositories, and things were beginning to behave rather strangely everytime one runs a system update. Some things just don't 'fix themselves' like they once did. Icons will mysteriously disappear or change size. Something weird just happened to the 'panel'.
It might be that the Mint people have got something entirely new in mind for the NEXT edition, due already in a month or so (they're calling v16 'Petra'). They've shown signs of distancing themselves further and further from the 'parent' operating system anyway... but in the meantime this is a transitory fix for me, until I can download a brand new ISO file and start over. Of course, there's still a chance that I'll be totally dissatisfied with the 'new' versions and roll it back to 'Nadia' again... wot larks, eh?
Can anyone think of a girl's name starting with 'Q' and ending in 'A'? (quoth the sphynx)
